Design Brief

The goal of this project was to design a logo of Bill Walton that encapsulates his legacy. The idea behind this project was to transform the statue of Walton, that is located in Downtown San Diego, into a 1-color silhouette logo. The goal was to create a simplistic logo that can be used digitally or stitched into clothing.

Solution

The logo shows Bill Walton standing in his signature pose with his bike. Along with being a famous basketball star, Bill had a love for bicycling. The silhouette represents his legacy by showing both of his passion in one.

This project was extra exciting for me because I have personally met Bill Walton. Back in 2015 my grandparents won an auction where my family and I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Bill at his home in San Diego. Bill Walton was truly a kind and genuine person who cared deeply for his community.

The “Bill Walton signature” was created by tracing his signature off of a hand-signed basketball that I received from Bill back in 2015.
